Our goal is to prepare child welfare staff and foster
parents of all publicly administered or supported child
welfare agencies throughout New York City to:
- Prepare adolescents in foster care to achieve self-sufficiency
- Integrate policy and practice to promote positive youth
development for all youth in care (ages 14-21)
- Develop and implement policy frameworks that support
quality practice to effectively move children through
the uncertainty of adolescence in foster care to confident
adulthood and secure relationships;
- Engage in collaborative activities with the NYS Office
of Children and Family Services (NYSOCFS) and NYC Administration
for Children's Services (ACS)
and the statewide Independent Living Network to assess
needs and deliver
responsive training, technical assistance and resources.
- Access state of the art independent living strategies
and techniques for successful transition to self sufficiency.
