Library
The Schools of Social Work and Public Health Library (SWPHL) is a graduate- and doctoral-level branch of the Hunter College Libraries. Located on the main floor of the Silberman Building, SWPHL maintains a dynamic, comprehensive, integrated library serving the academic and research needs of the Silberman School of Social Work and the CUNY School of Public Health.
The library’s collections contain over 50,000 print books, a wide array of electronic books, print and electronic reference materials, over 200 print journals, 100,000 electronic journals and 300 electronic databases. SWPHL is a pick-up/drop-off site for CLICS, which facilitates the sharing of books between all 19 of the CUNY system libraries. Likewise, SWPHL participate in the interlibrary loan program which is a national consortium of academic libraries that share resources. These reciprocal agreements allow the patrons of SWPHL extensive access to a multitude of collections.
SWPHL Faculty provide drop-in and by appoint reference services, research consultations, classroom and individual instruction. Both the Silberman AV-ICIT Team and the School for Social Work Writing Center provide services as guest collaborators at SWPHL. The library has 7 group study rooms, group and silent study areas, desktop computers, photocopiers, printing stations and a book scanner.
