Project for Return and Opportunity In Veterans Education, founded in 2007, serves as a means to support student veterans as they transition from military service to student life. Our program focuses on the special skills veterans bring to their college environment, as well as their specific concerns.

The goals of the Project include: assisting veterans in making a smooth and successful transition into the CUNY system; acknowledging and appreciating the skills veterans bring to CUNY; and increasing the graduation rate among returning veterans at CUNY.

These goals are achieved through the collaberation of social work interns, student veteran mentors, campus veteran services officials and other partner agencies.

In 2008 - 2009, P.R.O.V.E. was present on the campuses of Hunter College, John Jay College for Criminal Justice, Borough of Manhattan Community College and Hunter College School of Social Work. In 2009 - 2010 we plan to expand our services to include Bronx Community College and Hostos Community College.
