STUDENT LIFE

Student life at Hunter is exceptionally vibrant. Students govern more than 100 clubs and organizations, compete in championship athletic events, contribute to four student publications, and participate in leadership programs. We help prepare our students to be life-long learners and leaders.

Athletics and Recreation

Hunter's comprehensive, competitive Athletics program includes 18 championship-winning athletic teams. The Hunter Hawks compete at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the CUNY Athletic Conference. They also provide a variety of recreational opportunities (such as classes, activites, gyms, equipment and swimming pool) that contribute to the physical, social, and overall wellbeing of all members of the campus community.

Residence Halls

A limited number of students have the opportunity to live in the Hunter College Residence Halls. They have a unique opportunity to enrich their learning experiences by becoming involved in our Residence Life Community, which offers social, educational, and cultural programs designed to enhance learning and to promote positive relationships within the Residence Halls and the community at large.

The Children’s Learning Center

The Children’s Learning Center at Hunter College is a quality child care learning facility for the children of Hunter College students. We provide a rich, developmentally appropriate environment for children while their parents attend classes or perform other college-related work.

The Hunter Gatherer

Published by the Division of Student Affairs, the Hunter Gatherer is a bi-weekly listing of events, activities and items of interest for students and the Hunter community at large. Typical news items include internship opportunites, job and health fairs, scholarships, student discounts on performances, advising schedules and orientations, pre-professional events, athletic events, library resources, and updates on college policies.

Student Publications and Broadcast Media

A key part of the educational experience is the opportunity to learn about and discuss current issues affecting Hunter and the larger community.

The Hunter Envoy is our student newspaper, "the voice" of Hunter College since 1944. Students can submit articles, story ideas, illustrations or photographs, as well as work on the paper as editors, reporters, photographers, and illustrators. Readers can subscribe to the Hunter Envoy blog via email to receive notifications of new posts by email.

The OliveTree Review, established in 1983, is Hunter College's student-run undergraduate art and literary journal. The Olive Tree Review is published every semester, distributed for free among the Hunter community, and features art and writing primarily from Hunter undergraduate students.

Psych News is the official publication of The Psychology Collective, published each semester. The Psychology Collective is a collaboration between the three psychology-related student organizations at Hunter College: The Psychology Club, The Hunter Chapter of Psi Chi (the International Honor Society in Psychology), and Psych News.

WHCS Radio Station: is an independent, non-commercial, student-run radio at Hunter College.
