This web site is not a replacement for meeting with an Advisor in the Office of Advising Services or in your major department, however, the tips provided in the Advising web site will better prepare you for "real time" appointments with your advisor in the Office of Advising Services and your faculty advisor in your major department. Review these pages to learn more about general academic requirements, discover campus resources, review policy basics, and find answers to frequently asked questions

Things to Do

  • Review the Hunter College Undergraduate Catalog.
Read carefully the sections about academic programs and policies; administrative services; tuition, fees, and financial aid; student life, services, and support resources; and your intended major.
  • Explore this website. Pay particular attention to our FAQ page.
  • Follow our step-by-step tutorial about how to choose your major and explore your career choices.
  • Make an appointment to meet with your advisor prior to registering for the next semester, or drop in to see an advisor when you're on campus. Don't wait until peak times. Schedule appointments during the "slow" periods: mid-February to early April, late June to mid-July, and late September to early November.
  • Use DIG - Degree Information for Graduation System to audit your degree progress.
  • Contact a member of the Advising Staff if you experience academic or personal difficulties.
    Ask questions.
