Starting a Federal Career with a Disability

It has never been easier for someone with a disability to begin an amazing career at the Department of Transportation (DOT). Three agencies from DOT: the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Highway Administration and the DOT Disability Resource Center are collaborating to implement a free workshop to inform people with a disability how to start a federal career. A flyer for the event is attached. Kindly forward this email to any career center program supporting people with disabilities or to any person who may find value in attending this free workshop.


The Department of Transportation is committed to building diversity and inclusion in its workforce. We realize our workforce will not thrive without a strong commitment to disability inclusion. There are noncompetitive hiring authorities that people with disabilities may utilize to begin an amazing career in transportation!

  • How people with a disability may utilize the Schedule A hiring authority to begin their careers
  • How to navigate
  • Federal resume writing tips


The workshop will take place May 5 from 2 – 4pm EDT. A link to register for the event is below and on the attached flyer.
