Services
Wellness Services at Hunter College offers a range of clinical services, as well as health-related activities, information, and resources that are responsive to the needs of students.
The Office of Health Services offers primary care services including vaccinations, physical exams, STI/HIV testing, and the evaluation of, and treatment for, a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries. Clinical care is provided by our nurse practitioner (NP). Other members of the staff promote good health and disease prevention through health education activity and events that occur throughout the year.
When your health care needs require more than we can provide, we offer community-based resources and referrals.
Visit the Office of Health Services for the following:
- Physical examinations (for eligible students)
- Vaccinations for Flu, MMR, & HPV (for eligible students)
- Emergency care
- Short-term medically-related respite
- STI/HIV Screenings (check the Calendar of Events for dates and times)
- Health information on a variety of topics including alcohol education, sexual health, eating disorders, nutrition, cholesterol, cancer, domestic violence, stress management, and smoking cessation
- Referral to community based resources

**Effective July 1, 2012, the Office of Health Services will be
closed on Fridays.
Nurse Practitioner Availability
The nurse practitioner is available in the Office of Health Services
on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 am - 5:30 pm
during the Fall and Spring Semesters only. Students are welcome to
walk in or schedule an appointment. Appointments are available
from 10:00 am - 2:30 pm and from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm.
Please note that some walk-in requests for service may take
precedence over scheduled appointments.
Activities and Events
Wellness Services also offers activities and events throughout each semester designed to educate students and promote healthy behavior. These include:
Health Education Tabling
On a weekly basis, during the Fall and Spring semesters, an information table focusing on a different health topic is set up on the Third Floor of the West Building to distribute information. Topics range from Alcohol/Substance Use and Domestic Violence to Diabetes and Smoking Cessation.
Health & Wellness Fair
The Health & Wellness Fair, held in the Spring, offers screenings, information, and resources covering a broad range of health-related topics. The Fair features representatives from community-based health organizations as well as Hunter College Schools of Nursing, Health Professions, and Counseling Services.
Stress Free Zone
Explore techniques and strategies to help reduce stress and anxiety to enhance your academic success. This program is held at the end of each semester during the week before finals. Join us for stress managing activities including 10 minute massages, make your own stress balls, coloring mandalas, soothing music and snacks.
