Special Education Policy Conference:

Intersections of Race and Class

Various legislative acts have been passed with the intent to improve outcomes for marginalized students, from Brown vs. Board of Education in 1954, to Civil Rights Act in 1964, to the Education of All Handicapped Children Act in 1975. However, students continue to experience unequal treatment at school and display disparate achievement.

This colloquium seeks to engage participants across research, policy, and practice areas, in order to address the impact of legislation on students across socioeconomic, race, language, and disability lines. The goal of these sessions is to facilitate collaborative problem-solving among federal, state, and local education policy stakeholders.

There will be multiple sessions throughout the day, you can attend as many or as little as you like.

Date: Tuesday, May 17
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Place: Roosevelt House, 47 - 49 East 65th St, New York

For more information, please contact Rafael Munoz at (212) 650-3184, email rmu@hunter.cuny.edu or rhrsvp@hunter.cuny.edu or visit our website
