Support, Condolences for Japanese Students

The International Students Office at Hunter College extends its condolences to all Japanese students who may have been affected by the earthquakes in Japan on Thursday and Friday of last week. If you are a Japanese student and have any questions about your immigration status and your continued enrollment at Hunter, we strongly encourage you to visit the International Students Office.

Our international student advisors and staff are available to provide you with information, assistance and referrals in the areas listed below:

  • Filling an application for off-campus employment (severe economic necessity) with U.S. Immigration Services
  • Requesting a reduction in course load (less than 12 credits)
  • Requesting to speak with a counselor in Counseling and Wellness Services
  • Requesting an official temporary leave of absence from school
  • Extending your course completion date on your I-20 form or DS-2016

Support, Condolences for Ecuadorian Students

On behalf of the International Students Office at Hunter College, we wish to extend our condolences to all Ecuadorian students and their families who may have been affected by the earthquake in Ecuador.

Optional Practical Training Deadline

International students with F1 Status can apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT). OPT will allow you to work full-time in the United States for one year after you have completed your studies. We welcome students to set up an appointment with an international student advisor as the deadline is rapidly approaching.

NOTE: After April 21, you may be allowed less time in the U.S. to pursue OPT

One To World Event:

Twilight Cruise Around Manhattan

Join us for a night to remember and enjoy the beautiful Manhattan skyline on One To World's annual Twilight Cruise. This floating party is one of our most popular events, where we celebrate the end of the semester by dancing the night away on the ship deck with a live DJ.

Awards for International Students!

The Kenneth E. Clark Student Research Award

The International Leadership Association (ILA) are pleased to partner with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) to sponsor the annual Kenneth E. Clark Student Research Award. This award recognizes outstanding unpublished papers by undergraduate and graduate students, and is named in honor of the distinguished scholar and former Chief Executive Officer of the Center.

Fredric M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award

In partnership with Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, the ILA annually presents the Fredric M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award to a scholar whose doctoral dissertation research demonstrates substantial insights and implications for the study of leadership. The dissertation can be on any topic and from any discipline, and was established to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Fredric M. Jablin.

The Travel Insurety International Student Scholarship

This is a one-time $5,000 USD scholarship. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students studying outside of their home country with their educational expenses. To be eligible, you must be an American Student studying abroad or an International Student studying in the U.S. You need not be a client to be eligible.

Leo S. Rowe Fund for International Students

The Rowe Fund is an educational loan program of the Organization of American States (OAS) that help citizens from Latin America and Caribbean OAS Member States to finance their studies or research by awarding interest-free loans of up to $15,000. Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round.

Summer Registration is Now Open!

Hunter College offers two summer sessions in a variety of course lengths. Students can take up to 7 credits per session. To avoid late fees, apply now during the registration period.
