Prestigious Mock Supreme Court Argument
The event "First Monday in October" (on a Wednesday this year) is a mock U.S. Supreme Court argument, named in acknowledgment of the traditional first day of the new Supreme Court session. It is hosted annually by the Office of the Appellate Defender, and is followed by an awards ceremony honoring the nationally recognized legal advocates who present the argument.
This year's advocates and recipients of the Gould Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy will be:
- Lewis J. Liman, of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP
- David M. Zornow, of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP
The Court will hear arguments in Apple, Inc. v. FBI, a case that confronts the tension between privacy and security in the digital age and the legitimate needs of law enforcement. The mock arguments will be preceded by a cocktail-party strolling dinner.
Seat requests will be accepted until September 25; students will receive follow up confirmation thereafter. This event is capped at 10 attendees. Business attire is required.
Please hold the date and request a seat.
