Become a Student Leader: Run for Office!

Attend a Candidate Workshop

Learn more about the elections, eligibility requirements, and more! Find out how you can be elected to the Undergraduate Student Government or a College-wide Committee! Student elections will be held the week of May 1 for the 2017-2018 academic year. Campaign funds are available!

Δ To be eligible, you must attend at least one of theses Candidate Workshops in Rm C001, North Building:

  • Tuesday, April 4 at 3:00 pm
  • Thursday, April 6 at 11:00 am

AVAILABLE POSITIONS:
Student Government

The official organization that represents students, charters clubs, allocates funds, and provides social, cultural and political programs.
Positions available: 8 Executive Officers* and 14 Senators

College Association
Reviews and approves all budgets supported by the Student Activity Fee.
Positions available: 4 Undergraduates

Auxiliary Enterprise Corporation
Reviews and approves all contracts for auxiliary enterprises and allocates funds for campus activities.
Positions available: 3 Undergraduates

Faculty-Student Disciplinary Committee
Hears testimony and renders decisions regarding disciplinary action.
Positions available: 6 Undergraduates
*Stipends of up to $4,950 per year are available for some positions.

Dining Etiquette: Elbows Off the Table

Join us at this hands-on dining etiquette workshop to enhance your academic, personal and professional success by embellishing your table manners and professional dining skills.

At this workshop, you will learn:

  • What to do with the napkin before, during, and after dinner
  • Which flatware to use first and its place during dinner
  • The proper way to use a knife and fork
  • Behavior at an open buffet and much more

Free lunch will be served to all students who attend.

University Student Senate Scholarship

Every year, the USS awards the following scholarships to several CUNY students:

  • Ernesto Malave Merit Scholarship
  • Passantino Scholarship for international students
  • Passantino Scholarship for students with disabilities
  • Graduate Peer Mentoring Scholarship

Each winter, the USS Scholarship Committee releases the annual scholarship application packet. The scholarship awards are distributed during the next fall semester, following the annual USS Scholarship Dinner.

Graduate Student Association (GSA) Travel Awards

The GSA encourages all graduate students to enhance their educational experience by attending academic conferences, and presenting on their work. Speaking at conferences to share your knowledge not only enhances your personal reputation, participation also strengthens Hunter's reputation, and makes your degree more valuable. Students may apply for travel awards of up to $500 for conference presenters this year, and up to $300 for conference attendees this year, who are expected to present next year.

Get Involved!

Become a Graduate Student Association Senator or Executive Council Officer

The Graduate Student Association provides a program of cultural and social enrichment for the graduate students of Hunter College. The GSA is composed of elected senators, and an Executive Council. Each senator represents their program of study, and elect the six Executive Council members.

If you are interested in learning more about GSA positions and elections, please contact Teneia Wooten at twooten@hunter.cuny.edu or your program advisor about the GSA election for your program. If you are interested in running for a GSA position please contact your program advisor for election dates.
