Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship for Mature Women

The fund was created by the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation for women (age 25 and over) who need financial assistance in completing their education. In making awards for financial support special consideration is given to the life circumstances and family responsibilities of older women students.

Deadline: Wednesday, May 8
Place: Office of Dean of Students, Room 1103, East Building

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Open to women 25 years of age or older
  • Completed at least 60 credits of an undergraduate degree
  • All students must complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA or renewal FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • ·New York State residents must also file the TAP application·

Is There a Fulbright in Your Future?

Graduating by 2014? Or will you be in graduate school?  Are you thinking of going abroad to study, teach English or do research?  A Fulbright grant may offer you the opportunity to study, research, or teach English in the country of your choice for one year.

Hunter students have gone on to study anthropology in Thailand, paint in the Philippines, study religion in Germany, work in a non-governmental organization in Malawi, or teach English in Turkey, Germany and Argentina, among many other countries.

The JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars Program 2013-2014

Scholarships and Paid Internships Available!

Those selected as JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars will receive generous tuition assistance scholarships, a paid internship placement in the Summer of 2014, a free trip to Washington and access to special events and dedicated workshops at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute as part of the two-year program. If you're interested in being a change agent - from local to global - apply now!

Generously funded by the Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women, JFEW Eleanor Roosevelt Scholars are of all backgrounds. Participation in the Program is open to both men and women.

ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be in your Sophomore year of your undergraduate degree
  • Hold no more than 70 academic credits
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student for each semester during the Program
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 for each semester during the Program
  • Demonstrate a strong connection to New York City
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the U.S.; and Have a demonstrated commitment to enhancing the status and role of women in the fields of public policy and public service
  • Participants will be drawn primarily from social science majors such as Economics, Urban Affairs, and Political Science.
  • However, candidates from other majors will be considered on a case-by-case basis when Hunter College identifies strong candidates committed to careers in public service.
  • Applicants to the Program cannot be enrolled in the CUNY Macaulay Honors Program.
