WELCOME TO HUNTER COLLEGE

fao_title.gif

Dear Freshman Student:

Welcome to Hunter College!

This website is designed specifically for Freshman students, and contains access to important resources, events, tutorials, and other information that is crucial during the first year at Hunter College. If you are an incoming student, it is also important that you check your MyChoice Page at http://mychoice.hunter.cuny.edu.for the most up to date information regarding orientation, advising and registration.

Throughout your first year at Hunter, The Office of Advising Services will work with you to assist in the many new processes, procedures, policies, people and places that you will encounter. Orientations, advising sessions, programs, workshops and other helpful events are arranged throughout your first year at Hunter to help you get adjusted, to better navigate the academic system, and to make informed decisions about your academic career and your future.

Each student is assigned to a Freshman Advisor. This advisor is available to assist you in making decisions, and can help with everything from registering for classes to registering a complaint, from finding your classroom to finding your passion, from meeting new friends to meeting academic expectations, and with all of the other challenges that will arise as you begin your academic journey. For more information about what Freshman Advisors do see What is an Advisor? (PDF). And click here to find out who your Freshman Advisor is and how to contact him/her.

Hunter College, including Advising Services, will contact you via your Hunter email. It is important that you check your Hunter email account on a regular basis or you may miss critical information.

We wish you a happy and productive first year and look forward to helping you in any way that we can.

Sincerely,

Angela Kearns VanDijk, Director of First Year Advising and Transition Programs
