Why you take the COMPASS Math Placement Test:

All Hunter students, regardless of major, must meet the Quantitative Reasoning Requirement and therefore should take the COMPASS MATH Placement Test as soon as possible. See the Testing Center's website at for more information.

Students who intend to major in one of the following fields of study are encouraged to take the COMPASS Math Test before registration as the results will affect students' first semester course options: accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, economics, education, health science, nursing, mathematics and statistics, physics, and psychology; and any students preparing for professional school in a medical field such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary, physical therapy, etc.

Once you have taken the COMPASS Math Placement Test, you may find your test results on your MyHUNTER page. Login at

Please note that MATH 100 fulfills Hunter’s Quantitative Reasoning Requirement. However it is not a pre-requisite to more advanced math courses. (Math 101 is a pre-requisite to more advanced math courses.)
