Petrie Grant for Emergency Funding

Students with short-term financial emergencies may receive assistance from the Petrie Foundation and the Division of Student Affairs to enable them to remain in school. Short-term emergencies may include loss of employment, death in the family, homelessness, evictions, medical issues, or inability to keep up with daily living expenses.

Basic Criteria for Petrie Grant:

  • Student must be enrolled in classes for the semester they are requesting funding
  • Student must have a current FAFSA on file
  • Student must be in good academic standing (above a 2.0 GPA)
  • Student must not have an outstanding debt with the College
  • Grant is for emergency personal use and therefore cannot be used to pay tuition

EFA Studio Program Seeks Administrative Assistant

The administrative assistant will provide essential services that support the mission of the program and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage general office duties and provide administrative support as needed to the Director and Assistant Director of the EFA Studio Program.
  • Provide physical and administrative support for on-site programming including Summer Floor by Floors and Open Studios.
  • Assist the Program Director and Assistant Director in the organization and execution of the new member and member renewal processes.
  • Process applications for member artists including move-in and move-out check lists. Diligently maintain and organize electronic and physical files.
  • Field incoming phone calls, determining the nature of the call and appropriate follow-up.
  • Respond to in-person and email inquiries concerning the Studios Program. Handle confidential and sensitive materials with care. Website management using Squarespace.
  • Manage social media presence for the EFA Studio Program on multiple platforms.
  • Option to assist with special events throughout the year.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in Mac applications, Microsoft Office, and Adobe CS preferred Prior experience in an office or administrative position. Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Squarespace, and Filemaker is a plus. Desire to work with a visual arts organization.

Schedule and availability: Commitment of 1 day per week, beginning as soon as possible.

Salary: $10,000 per year/ Approx. $24 per hour

Undergraduate Sculpture Shop Seeks Work-Study Assistants

The undergraduate sculpture shop on the Hunter 68th Street campus is hiring MFA students for shop monitor work-study positions for the fall 2017 semester.

Responsibilities:
Open/close the shop, maintain safety protocols, assist students with tools and machinery, light duty maintenance and clean up, and some computer paperwork. Candidates would report to the shop manager directly, and have a shop orientation before beginning the fall position.

Qualifications:
Applicants should be able to qualify for work study through the financial aid office. The applicant should have a basic familiarity with wood shop tools, and fabrication techniques.

Schedule: Start immediately. 5-15 hours per week.

Centro Voices e-Magazine Call for Writing

With the upcoming fall semester fast approaching, Centro Voices e-magazine would like to announce a call for essays with specific themes to be addressed during fall 2017 through winter 2018. Your essay should range from 700 to 1,200 words, though longer pieces of writing may be considered. Pitches should be sent to centrovo@hunter.cuny.edu.

Literacy Tutors Needed

Brooklyn Public Library is seeking volunteers to help tutor literacy in the New Lots branch. No teaching experience required. All majors are welcome.

Archival Internship at the Calder Foundation

The Calder Foundation is a non-profit institution dedicated to preserving the legacy of the twentieth-century artist Alexander Calder.

The archival internship is open to students (undergraduate or graduate) or recent graduates of art history or a related discipline. Undergraduates must have completed at least two years of study.
Archival Interns will learn organizational tasks involving cataloguing, preserving, and digitizing all aspects of the foundation's collection of archival material. The Calder Foundation Archive maintains over 130,000 documents, 26,000 photographs, dozens of films, and thousands of press clippings, articles, and publications.

Digital Image Processing interns will assist with identifying, analyzing, and processing images of artworks to be integrated into the Foundation's physical and digital holdings.

Qualifications:
Conscientious, mature and detail-oriented. Strong visual and analytic skills.
Helpful: prior experience with archival tasks, FileMaker Pro, Photoshop, and scanning
