Student Elections: Get Involved!
When to Vote
Voting is scheduled to take place in the spring of each academic year. Check back for specific dates. Elected officials are in office from July 1 – June 30.
How to Vote
Hunter College uses web-based voting. In order to vote on the web, you must set up your Hunter e-mail account. If you have not yet set up your Hunter e-mail, you should do so right away by calling (212) 650-EMAIL (3624), or email: studenthelpdesk@hunter.cuny.edu or go to the SNET Helpdesk in Room 1001 North.
What positions are on the ballot:
You will have the opportunity to vote, via the web, for the following 34 positions:
A) Seven Undergraduate Student Government Executive Officers:
President
Vice President
Finance Commissioner
Evening Affairs Commissioner
External Affairs/Public Relations Commissioner
Student Welfare/Academic Affairs Commissioner
Cultural Affairs/Student Activities Commissioner(Note: Brookdale Commissioner will only be voted on by residents of the Brookdale Residence Hall.
B) Fourteen Undergraduate Student Government Senators, including two freshmen, four sophomores, four juniors and four seniors.
C) College Association (4 positions available)
D) Auxiliary Enterprise Corporation (3 positions available)
E) Faculty Student Disciplinary Committee (6 positions available)

Learn About the Candidates
The following information and events will assist you in selecting your candidates:
- Each candidate is asked to submit their picture and a 100 word campaign statement which will be posted on the election website, which you will be able to access when you receive your elections e-mail.
- All candidates are asked to participate in a "Meet The Candidates Forum/Debate" to introduce themselves and their platform to the electorate.
- The list of candidates and their party affiliation, if any, will be posted in the glass-enclosed "Elections" bulletin board on three West.
- Read all campaign literature.
Elections are held in the spring for the following positions:
Undergraduate Student Government: The official organization which represents students, charters clubs, allocates funds, and provides social, cultural and political programs. (Available positions: Eight Executive Officers (Stipends up to $4,028 per year are available) and 14 Senators.)
College Association: This organization reviews and approves all student activity fee supported budgets. (Four undergraduate positions available.)
Auxiliary Enterprise Corporation: This organization reviews and approves all contracts for auxiliary enterprises on campus such as the bookstore and cafeteria. Additionally, this organization allocates funds for various campus activities based on available revenue from auxiliary enterprises. (Three undergraduate positions available.)
Faculty-Student Disciplinary Committee: This committee hears testimony and renders decisions regarding allegations, which if proved, may subject a student to disciplinary action. (Six undergraduate positions available.)
In addition to serving as your representative body, the Undergraduate Student Government is responsible for allocating about $650,000 annually, as follows:

For those students who are considering running for any of the positions, “Prospective Candidate Workshops” will be scheduled in early spring so that you may learn more about the rules governing the elections, eligibility, how to organize a campaign, etc.
Please note that in an effort to increase student participation, campaign funds are now available (see the election packet for details). All candidates must pick up an election packet which is now available in Room C001, North Building. Please note, to be eligible to seek office, all declaration forms, which are found in the elections packet, must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2013.
