Student Activities Colloquium
Welcome to the Spring 2009 semester. Each semester the Office of Student Activities organizes the Student Leadership Colloquium (SLC.) The SLC workshops are designed to introduce students to new and different concepts and theories of leadership, and to offer them opportunities to enhance their leadership skills. Workshops are held once a month during the semester. Those who attend all of the workshops will receive a Certificate of Attendance from the Dean of Students Office. The first spring 2009 SLC is Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 1:00pm in room 417 West Building. This workshop is titled “The Leadership Edge: Making the College Years Count!” presented by Ms. Jerrilyn Hedrington. Ms. Hedrington will confront the critical social, environmental and community issues in this challenging economy through co curricular and civic involvement that will ultimately help you shape your community and the world.

This month's Student Leadership Colloquium (SLC) is titled "Discovering your Passion as an Emerging Leader" In this seminar you will participate in exercises designed to help you identify your specific talents and passions. You will learn how to make a personal development plan that can be used to guide your development as a leader.

Automation, with its inexpensive information and advice centers, is changing where the jobs are. Conceptual understanding is fundamental to your professional goals.

A variety of Hunter and city-wide Greek Lettered Organizations will display their paraphernalia, photo albums, awards, etc. and educate students about their organizations. In an effort to acknowledge and celebrate the diverse history of our student body, the Office of Student Activities will be hosting a week- long event titled “Loving Diversity.” The focus of this event is to foster understanding and share our cultural, religious and social values with each other. Student organizations will embrace this opportunity to share aspects of their social, cultural and religious values that are important to them with the rest of the Hunter College community. This week long event will focus on our social, activist, religious and cultural clubs on November 15-19, 2010, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on the 3rd floor and the 1st floor Lobby, West building.

2nd Annual Student Organization Leadership Training
Student Organization Leadership Training is an opportunity for executive board members to get a full overview of what is required to lead a productive student organization. The retreat will take place on Friday, October 8, through Sunday October 10, 2010 at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa (www.hudsonvalleyresort.com) in Kerhonkson, NY. There will be NO COST for students to attend this retreat. All meals, transportation to and from the conference and retreat related activities will be paid for by the Office of Student Activities. Our office is requiring a $20.00 registration deposit, which will be returned to each student once we arrive at the conference center. Arrive at The Student Activities Office located at C001 North Building by 12:00pm on Friday, October 8; we will be departing from Hunter College to Hudson Valley at 1:00pm.
