The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students is responsible for managing the Division of Student Affairs, which supports students from recruitment through graduation. Our primary responsibility is to assist students in achieving their educational goals, and helping students address and resolve a variety of challenges that may arise along the way.
The Deans are here to help our students succeed and make the most of your Hunter College experience. Deans are available to meet with both individuals and student groups to discuss a wide-range of concerns. The Office of the Dean of Students is located in room 1103 in the East Building.

Eija Ayravainen, Vice-President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

A long-time advocate for students, Dean Ayravainen is staunchly dedicated to establishing and enhancing services and programs that are responsive to students’ needs and also help support their academic, professional and personal success. In her role as Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, Dean Ayravainen provides leadership to the Division of Student Affairs and has spearheaded numerous initiatives that provide student-focused services, programming, funding opportunities and events. Dean Ayravainen frequently meets with students in both formal and informal venues regarding matters affecting the Hunter College community.

Dean Stokely is responsible for all of the student support services provided by the Office’s of AccessABILITY, Advising Services (including the Center for Student Achievement and The Sylvia E. Fishman Student Center), Counseling & Wellness Services (including Health Services), Career Development Services, International Students, Brookdale Residence Hall, and Student Support Services. The Dean assists students by connecting them to a variety of academic support services. Dean Stokely also manages the academic retention process, which includes the Dean’s List, and academic dismissals and probations.
