We are happy you have chosen to continue your education at Hunter College. We welcome you to our dynamic and diverse community. Our aim is to provide you with the tools you need to succeed in meeting your academic goals. We will be working with you as you transition into the Hunter community through graduation.
We provide a number of opportunities to help you assimilate into and succeed at Hunter College. After you have confirmed your admission and your commitment deposit clears our systems, we will issue you a new portal page and e-mail account to help you manage your next steps.
We will send you notices and post announcements about your next steps which will include completing an online tutorial, advising and registration. We will only use your @MyHunter e-mail address for messages and MyHunter portal page for announcements.
When we are working with you in advising, we discuss how your transfer credits and previous college-level work applies to Hunter’s curriculum, especially the Hunter Core Requirement. We also cover registration, developing an academic plan, placement assessments for math and/or foreign language, faculty advising as well as critical policies. After you finish the online tutorial, you will be able to meet with your assigned academic advisor to go over your registration plans.
In addition, your assigned advisor will expect to meet with you within the first six weeks of the Fall Semester to help you with issues needing immediate attention as well as formulate a long-term academic plan for reaching your academic goals. Your assigned advisor's information and instructions for booking an appointment will be listed in your MyHunter portal page.
Our objective is to help you become familiar with how to plan your academic program, understand guidelines and expectations for your major and learn how to locate the services and resources you need to achieve your goals.
We are excited about your decision to be a Hunter Hawk! We look forward to meeting you.
