We are happy you have chosen to continue your education at Hunter College. We welcome you to our dynamic and diverse community. Our aim is to provide you with the tools you need to succeed in meeting your academic goals. We will be working with you as you transition into the Hunter community through graduation.
We provide a number of specific programs to help you assimilate into and succeed at Hunter College. After you have confirmed your admission and your commitment deposit clears our systems, we send you an invitation to an orientation program. At orientation, we discuss how your transfer credits and previous college-level work applies to Hunter’s curriculum, our general education requirements, registration and critical policies. You also have the opportunity to meet your classmates in smaller groups. In addition, we also invite you to attend a second day of orientation, focusing on services and resources available to support your efforts, getting involved in student groups, clubs and activities, as well as providing opportunities to connect with your classmates.
Once your first semester is underway, we invite you to participate in more programs, including transfer network week, faculty advising opportunities and career services workshops. Our objective is to help you become familiar with how to plan your academic program, understand guidelines and expectations for your major and learn how to locate the services and resources you need to achieve your goals.
For individual assistance with mapping a plan, developing strategies to achieve your goals and taking appropriate action, you are welcome to meet with an advisor in the Office of Advising Services. You are always welcome to drop in on a first-come, first-served basis for quick questions. For more in-depth issues, please see an advisor for a 30 minute meeting. Advisors are available throughout the week. Consult the advising schedule for hours and days at www.hunter.cuny.edu/studentservices/advising/availability
We are excited about your decision to be a Hunter Hawk! We look forward to meeting you.
