HEALTH EDUCATION

Health Education and Prevention Programs
- Health Education has moved to C001 North Building
- Stop by to pick up information or resources on a variety of health related topics.
- Check the Calendar of Events for the specific dates and times of the Health Education and Prevention Programs we offer throughout each semester.
Health Education Tabling
Each month an information table focusing on a different health issue is set up on the Third Floor of the West Building to distribute printed information. These tables happen every Monday and Thursday from 10am-3pm.
Walking Groups
Every Monday and Wednesday please join us in the West Lobby at 1pm for a one hour walking group. This group will leave the West Lobby and walk over the Central Park for an hour, weather pending.
Health and Wellness Fair
Each year there is a Health Fair featuring screenings, educational videos and representatives from community health organizations, including the Hunter College Schools of Health Professions (Nursing, Nutrition & Food Science Community Health Education, Communication Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Physical Therapy).
Interactive CD-ROM Programs
We have programs that are available for one-on-one viewing and group presentations.
- Alcohol 101 is an interactive educational program used to look at and discuss the use and abuse of alcohol among college students.
- The Healthy Student is an interactive CD that explores AIDS, Nutrition, Stress, STD's, Alcohol, and Contraceptive issues.
- Sex in the CD is an interactive CD designed to explore relationships, intimacy, and sexual decision making.
Mental Heath Screenings
In conjunction with the National Institute of Mental Health and Counseling Services at Hunter, we are able to offer screenings for Depression and Anxiety. Please call 212-772-4800 to find out when the next screening date will be.
Operation Enrichment, OpE
Coordinated by the Residence Hall, Athletics and Health Education, OpE is an intervention/prevention strategy designed to decrease the incidence of 'high risk' behavior within the student-athlete and Residence Hall populations. The program uses guest speakers and small group workshops to raise awareness about the consequences of 'high risk' behavior, as well as to increase access to and use of health/wellness related resources.
Stress Free Zone
Stress Reduction
Explore techniques and strategies to help reduce stress and anxiety to enhance you academic success and personal growth. This program happens at the end of every semester before finals. Join us for stress managing activities including 10 minutes massages, make your own stress balls, coloring mandalas, and a nap zone.
