Summer's Edge (Freshmen)

Get a jump on your college degree through the Hunter College Summer’s Edge program – Summer’s Edge offers first year students the chance to take one 3 credit college course the summer before they begin their freshmen year.
All Summer’s Edge 2012 classes take place during Hunter College’s summer session 2 (July 17 through August 20) and meet Hunter College general education requirements. For a full listing of courses with brief descriptions see below.
Summer’s Edge participants may be eligible for scholarship funding, discounted summer dormitory rates and other benefits. (All scholarship applicants must have submitted a complete, electronic FAFSA for academic year 2012-2013 www.fafsa.ed.gov)
Students who commit to attend Hunter will learn more about Summer’s Edge and other Hunter College programs at their Orientation sessions.

Experience the Arts in NYC! Get a head start on the best internships in film, media, music and theater companies. These introductory courses will allow you to take advanced courses immediately during your Fall 2012 semester.
- CLA 101 - Classical Mythology: Classical Mythology Pre requisite to upper level classics courses. Fulfills two General Education Requirements. Great for students who love theater, film and history. Many study abroad options.

Begin to fulfill your Social Science requirements at Hunter this summer and give yourself the advantage of taking more advanced courses in the Fall.
- PSYCH 100 - Intro to Psychology: This is the required introductory level course for all students wishing to major in psychology. Students who are interested in careers in Nursing, Nutrition and Physical Therapy are required to complete Psych 100. It is also recommended for students interested in the fields of Mental Health Counseling, Medicine and Public Health.

Fulfills GER requirement - Stage 2B - SOC 101 - Intro to Sociology: This is an important course for those students interested in careers in Social Work, Counseling, Social Research, Marketing, Law and Public Policy. You will be eligible to register for upper level courses where you will study the sociology of the Family, Criminology and Sex and Gender.
