About the Program
Get a jump on your college degree through the Hunter College Summer’s Edge program – offering first year students the chance to take one 3 credit college course the summer before they begin their freshmen year.
All Summer’s Edge 2015 classes take place during Hunter College’s summer session 2 (July 13 - August 13, Five Week Session, July 6th - August 20, Seven Week Session). For a full listing of courses with brief descriptions see below.
Summer’s Edge participants may be eligible for scholarship funding, affordable summer dormitory rates and other benefits. (All scholarship applicants must have submitted a complete, electronic FAFSA for academic year 2015-2016 www.fafsa.ed.gov)
Students who commit to attend Hunter will learn more about Summer’s Edge and other Hunter College programs at their Orientation sessions.
Arts (July 13th - August 13th)
Experience the Arts in NYC! Get a head start on the best internships in film and media. These introductory courses will allow you to take advanced courses immediately during your Fall 2015 semester.
FILM 101 - Introduction to Cinema (Film): Pre-requisite to all upper level film courses.

World Cultures/Creative Expression (July 13th - August 13th)
German Language 101 and German Fairy Tales offer the unique opportunity to experience German language and culture.

GERMN 101 - Elementary German 101 Introductory German Language course

Begin to fulfill your Social Science requirements at Hunter this summer and give yourself the advantage of taking more advanced courses in the Fall.
Soc 101 - Intro to Sociology: This is the required introductory level course for all students wishing to major in sociology and fulfills core and graduation requirements.

Psych 100 - Intro to Psychology: This is the required introductory level course for all students wishing to major in psychology.

English 120 Introduction to Expository Writing (July 6th - August 20th, Seven (7) Week Session)
This seven (7) week course is the required introductory level course for all incoming first year students and fulfills core and graduation requirements.
