About the Program
Get a jump on your college degree through the Hunter College Summer’s Edge program – offering first year students the chance to take one 3 credit college course the summer before they begin their freshmen year.
All Summer’s Edge 2017 classes take place during Hunter College’s summer session 2 (July 17 - August 17, Five Week Session, July 5th - August 17, Seven Week Session). For a full listing of courses with brief descriptions see below.
Summer’s Edge participants may be eligible for scholarship funding and other benefits. (All scholarship applicants must have submitted a complete, electronic FAFSA for academic year 2017-2018 www.fafsa.ed.gov)
Students who commit to attend Hunter will learn more about Summer’s Edge and other Hunter College programs through communications and events for incoming freshmen.
Arts (July 17th - August 17th)
Experience the Arts in NYC! Get a head start on the best internships in film and media. These introductory courses will allow you to take advanced courses immediately during your Fall 2017 semester.
FILM 101 - Introduction to Cinema (Film): Pre-requisite to all upper level film courses.
Section SFD1 (afternoon only): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 pm - 3:50 pm
Begin to fulfill your Social Science requirements at Hunter this summer and give yourself the advantage of taking more advanced courses in the Fall.
Soc 101 - Intro to Sociology: This is the required introductory level course for all students wishing to major in sociology and fulfills core and graduation requirements.
Section SF1 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:00 pm - 3:50 pm
Psych 100 - Intro to Psychology: This is the required introductory level course for all students wishing to major in psychology.
Section SF1 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00 am - 11:50 am

English 120 Introduction to Expository Writing (July 5th - August 17th, Seven (7) Week Session)
This seven (7) week course is the required introductory level course for all incoming first year students and fulfills core and graduation requirements.
