Collegiate Learning Assessment+ (CLA+)
The Hunter College Testing Center administers the CLA+ twice a year. Hunter College students are randomly invited to test. As an incentive, each Hunter student, who takes and completes the CLA+ will be given a $50.00 Amazon gift card. For more information about the CLA+ and for a complete overview of the exam visit the CLA+ website or learn more about the CLA at bit.ly/huntercla.
As stated on the CLA+ website, "Students today can no longer rely solely on mastery of discipline-based information. They need to be able to analyze and evaluate information, solve problems, and communicate effectively. Beyond just accumulating facts, they must be able to access, structure, and use information. Specifically, CLA+ measures critical-thinking, problem solving, scientific and quantitative reasoning, writing, and the ability to critique and make arguments. Member institutions use CLA+ results to evaluate students' strengths and areas requiring further attention, sometimes publishing results to demonstrate that they have, indeed, graduated students with the skills needed to succeed beyond college. Students themselves use CLA+ results as a credential, illustrating to prospective employers and graduate schools their talents as 21st century thinkers."
