New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE) Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

The New York State Teacher Certification ExaminationsTM (NYSTCE®) address New York Education Law and Commissioner's Regulations, which require prospective New York State educators to pass designated tests as a requirement for receiving state certification. The Hunter College Testing Center offers the NYSTCE Computer-Based Testing.

NYSTCE Computer-Based Testing is normally administered Monday through Friday (excluding some holidays) in the Hunter College Testing Center, a Pearson Vue-Authorized Test Center.  Visit the NYSTCE website for a list of computer-based tests at http://www.nystce.nesinc.com/. 

 

Test Registration & Scheduling Information

Registration and Scheduling

To take a test, you must first complete the registration and payment process at the NYSTCE program website: www.nystce.nesinc.com  Registration for the NYSTCE Computer-Based Testing is available only on the Internet by selecting "Register" on the NYSTCE website. When registering for a computer-based test, you will schedule your test appointment by selecting a test date, testing time, and test center after completing the registration and payment process.  

Be sure to select Hunter College Testing Center as your test site.

Test appointments are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.   You should try to register as early as possible for your desired test date, as seating is limited. Before registering, you may check real-time seat availability at www.pearsonvue.com/es/sa/. After you schedule your test appointment, Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation e-mail, listing your test date, your testing time, testing location, and directions to the testing center.

If you have not received your Authorization to Test or a confirmation email within three business days of submitting your request to take an NYSTCE Computer-Based Test or if you have lost your Authorization to Test, log in to your account or call Evaluation Systems at 1-413-256-2882 or 1-800-309-5225 to confirm your status.

 

Identification / The Day of the Test

Your name on your account must match your name as it appears on the current, government-issued photo identification that you will present at the Hunter College Testing Center, Room 150 Hunter North Building, for admittance to the test session. If you do not have proper identification, if your identification is expired or if the name on your identification does not match the name on your account, you will be denied admission to the test session and will receive no credit or refund of any kind.  Visit www.nystce.nesinc.com for more information about what to expect the day of the test.  Note: Candidates will be provided with erasable board and marker.

 

Rescheduling or Canceling a Test

To reschedule or cancel a test appointment, log in to your account at the NYSTCE program website and follow the instructions provided: www.nystce.nesinc.com

Tutorial Preview

Before beginning the test, you will be given an on-screen tutorial that will show you how to navigate through the test, how to indicate your answers, and how to use the features of the computer-based test. A tutorial preview is available to help candidates prepare for the NYSTCE Computer-Based Testing experience.
