The basic mission of the Thomas Hunter Honors Program is to nurture and support outstanding students who wish to challenge themselves through interdisciplinary studies. The Program may be combined with, or replace, a formal departmental major/minor. Open to students of high intellectual ability and interdisciplinary interests pursuing a BA degree and with a proven record at Hunter, it permits these students to replace some of the College's General Education Requirements with a Special Honors Curriculum under the supervision of the Council on Honors. It also offers its participants the opportunity to study with faculty members who have indicated an interest in working with exceptional undergraduate students who have interdisciplinary interests.
Students selected for the Thomas Hunter Honors Program must show evidence of high academic potential, diversified interests and intellectual energy, and sufficient maturity to plan and complete an individualized program of study in consultation with an appropriate faculty advisor.
