ePortfolio pedagogy for the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program

Project Goals
:
  • Create an organized platform for sharing meaningful artifacts and information that represent dance education students' professional and educational accomplishments.
  • Use reflection to improve students' abilities to express clear vision statements, and authentic approaches to dance artistry and teaching, based on solid theory and practice in both dance and education.

What did you accomplish over the summer?
I was able to use knowledge gained in the meetings about hybrid online courses to lead a weekend intensive with students and build a curriculum module for Learning about the Cuban Conga, and its relationship to Cuban people and their culture. I built an ePortfolio template for my Methods I and II classes. I learned how to use Screencast-O-Matic to share reflective practices regarding ePortfolio platforms.

How do you plan to assess the effectiveness of your project and its impact on student learning?

  • I will use a rubric, and include reflective feedback for each section.
  • Peer share/review/feedback
  • I would like to have a portfolio celebration, with outside “experts,” from other curricular areas, my Curriculum and Teaching Department Chair, some of the technology staff, etc., all giving a round of feedback.
