Being successful in online courses: Tips for students

How can I succeed in a hybrid or online course?

  • Activate and use your Hunter email address to communicate with your professors and classmates.
  • Make sure you are using browsers and operating systems work with Blackboard. Use the browser checker to see if you have a supported browser or need to download another browser.
  • Check your Blackboard course site at least 3 times a week or as recommended by your instructors.
  • Always read instructions carefully and follow them.
  • Participate actively in the course and ask for clarification when you don’t understand.
  • Set a study plan including time and place to do course work for the whole semester.
  • Practice using technology tools required for the class before assignments are due.
  • Connect with your classmates using tools inside and outside Blackboard.
  • Find a study partner or form a study group.
  • Always be respectful in your written or virtual communication with classmates and instructors.
