The Hunter College Department of Recruitment and Outreach, also known as the Welcome Center, is committed to recruiting students who have achieved academic excellence and who are culturally diverse. The Welcome Center fulfills its mission by partnering with NYC high schools and community organizations by attending over 200 recruitment events/college fairs, offering pre-admissions academic advising to over 4,500 students annually and hosting informational events, and weekly information session tours that educate prospective students about Hunter and its offerings.
The Welcome Center also oversees the College Now program which is partnered with 29 NYC high schools and enrolls over 650 NYC students annually in College Now classes at Hunter College. In addition to this, the Middle Grades Initiative program works with partner NYC high schools and promotes early college awareness as well as academic tutoring and test preparation programs.

We invite you to speak with a Pre-Admissions counselor in the Welcome Center. But first, you must obtain a Visitors Pass from the Visitors Center, which is located in Hunter’s West Building Lobby on the southwest corner of 68th Street and Lexington Avenue. Once there, simply inform a Visitors Center Associate, recognizable by their purple vests, that you have come to the college to speak to a pre-admission counselor at the Welcome Center. You will then be asked to show a valid photo ID in order to obtain a guest pass for access to the Welcome Center.
It will speed the process if you give the Visitors Center advance notice that you are expecting someone. You can call the Visitors Center directly at 212.396.6666 or send an email to email@example.com.
