Freshman Scholars Programs

The Honors Scholar Program offers students a variety of advantages and support that can help create an extraordinary learning experience at Hunter College. The program offers tailored classes, merit scholarships, faculty mentors, an extensive system of academic advising, priority registration, and freshman year priority access to residence life. Honors Scholars are encouraged to work toward honors in the major or interdisciplinary studies, postgraduate education, and high-impact educational experiences (e.g. study abroad, research, internships).

There are eight programs, each functioning as a meta-major with key first-year required courses for clusters of majors. This aids students in exploring related programs of study and graduating in a timely manner. In addition to a faculty advisor, all scholars are assigned a dedicated full-time professional staff advisor to assist with major selection and course planning.

Who Can Apply

Programs are limited to a combined approximately 220 incoming freshman students each year. Incoming freshman must first complete the application process for admission to Hunter College. Upon admission, you will be contacted for additional information on MyChoice if you quality for potential admission into one or more programs.
