You are considered a freshman applicant if you have not previously attended any college, university and/or proprietary school within or outside the United States since graduating from high school or secondary school.

Applying
All applicants must fill out a CUNY application, which must be filed online. Any personal computer or laptop can be used to complete the online application. However, for optimal results, please use Internet Explorer as your web browser. Applicants who need access to a computer can visit a public library, a public access computer lab, or one of CUNY’s Manhattan Welcome Centers. You can begin the online filing process by going to the CUNY website.

CUNY operates on a rolling admission basis; however, colleges and programs may close before the deadline.

What is the average class size?
Class size at Hunter varies. We have classes in various sized lecture
halls, which hold between 50-150 students. Our regular sized classrooms
can hold as many as 20-40 students.
What is the average total SAT score of admitted freshman?
Freshmen who enrolled at Hunter in Fall 2010 had an average SAT score of 1198. This was a combination of Math and Verbal. Hunter does not currently consider the writing section score
Is there an orientation I have to attend before I register for classes?
All students are required to attend a scheduled orientation session hosted by Advising Services’ Freshman Advising and Orientations Office.
Once you have been accepted, you can choose an orientation date from your
MyChoice VIP page.
What are the benefits of the Block Program?
Participation in the Block Program allows opportunities to explore new
academic disciplines, including tentative majors and minors, develops the
critical thinking and writing skills necessary for academic success, and offers
contact with prominent faculty and advisors. The program can also enhance your

How do I transfer my AP credits to Hunter?
You must have your Advanced Placement scores sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
Does Hunter have a dormitory?
We do have a dormitory, which consists of 612 rooms. It is located on E. 25th Street. The application process is highly competitive therefore, it is
important for Hunter students who do not commute from home to explore
other housing options in addition to applying for housing. One suggestion you might look into is Educational Housing Services. Their properties are
located in East Midtown, the Herald Square neighborhood and Brooklyn
Heights.
