What does it mean to "reactivate" my CUNY Admission Application for a future semester?

If you are unable to defer your application to reserve your seat for a future semester because it is past the deadline or you plan to take courses at another institution, but you would still like to attend Hunter College, you can reactivate your previous application for the next semester. You will be required to update your CUNY Admission application with any new information and/or updated documents, and your application will be reviewed within the context of other applications and current admission criteria for the new semester. May I defer my admission to Hunter College if I did not pay the $100 Commitment Deposit?

Hunter College will not hold your seat for a future semester if you do not pay the $100 Commitment Deposit. However, you may reactivate your CUNY Application for a future semester if it is too late to defer, if you plan on taking courses at another institution, or if you do not want to pay the $100 Commitment Deposit. Your application will be reviewed within the context of other applications and current admission criteria for the new semester. Note that if you reactivate your CUNY Application for a non-consecutive semester to the one to which you applied, you will have to pay the application processing fee again. If I defer my admission to Hunter College and pay my $100 Commitment Tuition Deposit, will I be guaranteed admission for the following semester?

Yes, your admission to Hunter College will be guaranteed for the following semester as long as you pay the Commitment Tuition Deposit and defer your admission prior to the end of the late registration period.* Please review the Academic Calendar for current registration dates.

*Please be advised that your Commitment Tuition Deposit will be forfeited if you fail to defer by the end of the late registration period.

How do I defer my admission to Hunter College if I've already registered for courses?

In order to defer your admission to Hunter College after you have registered for courses, you must withdraw from all of your classes prior to the first day of classes and follow these instructions. By doing so, you will guarantee your admission to Hunter for the next semester and receive a full refund for your registration charges. You may still withdraw from your courses after this date, but you will not receive a full refund. Please visit the Office of the Registrar for more information on withdrawal information and refund policies.

What is the deadline to defer my admission to Hunter College or reactivate my CUNY Admission Application?

To defer your admission to Hunter College, you must complete the steps for deferral before the end of the late registration period. Please review the Academic Calendar for current registration dates.

To reactivate your CUNY Admission Application, you must complete the steps for reactivation before the CUNY Application Deadline for the new semester. May I delay my admission to Hunter College or reactivate my CUNY Admission Application for more than one semester?

You may defer your admission to Hunter College or reactivate your CUNY Admission Application one time for up to one subsequent year. If you have already deferred your admission or reactivated your application in a previous semester, you will need to re-apply via the CUNY Admission Application, pay the application processing fee, and adhere to the CUNY Admission Application deadlines.

What if I defer my admission to Hunter College and attend classes at another college or university?

You may not defer your admission in order to complete post-secondary education at another college or university within or outside the U.S. If you plan to attend a post-secondary institution, you must reapply as a transfer applicant, pay the application processing fee, and adhere to the CUNY Admission Application deadlines.

I was admitted into the SEEK program and wish to defer my admission to Hunter College. Will I be required to pay the Commitment Tuition Deposit?
