What does it mean to "reactivate" my CUNY Admission Application for a future semester?

If you would like to have your CUNY Admission Application re-evaluated for a future semester, you may opt to defer and reactivate your application. By doing so, you will not be required to pay the $100 Commitment Tuition Deposit; however, your spot will not be reserved at Hunter College and you will be required to update your CUNY Admission Application with any new information, which will be reviewed within the context of other applications and based on the current admission criteria for the new semester. Yes, you may defer your admission without paying the Commitment Tuition Deposit, but you will forfeit your seat at Hunter College. If I defer my admission to Hunter College and pay my $100 Commitment Tuition Deposit, will I be guaranteed admission for the following semester?

Yes, your admission to Hunter College will be guaranteed for the following semester as long as you pay the Commitment Tuition Deposit and defer your admission prior to the end of the late registration period.* Please review the Academic Calendar for current registration dates.

*Please be advised that your Commitment Tuition Deposit will be forfeited if you fail to defer by the end of the late registration period.

How do I defer my admission to Hunter College if I've already registered for courses?

In order to defer your admission to Hunter College after you have registered for courses, you must withdraw from all of your classes prior to the first day of classes and follow these instructions. By doing so, you will guarantee your admission to Hunter for the next semester and receive a full refund for your registration charges. You may still withdraw from your courses after this date, but you will not receive a full refund. Please visit the Office of the Registrar for more information on withdrawal information and refund policies.

What is the deadline to defer my admission to Hunter College or reactivate my CUNY Admission Application?

To defer your admission to Hunter College, you must do so prior to the end of the late registration period. Please review the Academic Calendar for current registration dates.

To reactivate your CUNY Admission Application, you must do so prior to the CUNY Application Deadline for the semester that you wish to be reconsidered. No, you may only defer your admission to Hunter College or reactivate your CUNY Admission Application one time for up to one subsequent semester. If you have already deferred your admission or reactivated your application in a previous semester, you will need to re-apply via the CUNY Admission Application, pay the application processing fee, and adhere to the CUNY Admission Application deadlines.

What if I defer my admission to Hunter College and attend classes at another college or university?

You may not defer your admission in order to complete post-secondary education at another college or university within or outside the U.S. If you plan to attend a post-secondary institution, you must re-apply as a transfer applicant, pay the application processing fee, and adhere to the CUNY Admission Application deadlines.
