DI Application Procedure
The Dietetic Internship admissions process requires three separate applications and fees:
I. Application to the Hunter College
Dietetic Internship
II.
The computer matching system through D&D Digital Systems
III. Once accepted into the Dietetic
Internship Program, students* are required to apply for matriculated or non-matriculated
admission status through the office of Graduate Admissions at Hunter College
*Hunter College students who have
been accepted or who are currently matriculated in the MPH program are not required
to apply for non-matriculated status.
I. Application to the Dietetic Internship
The completed application packet for the internship must be postmarked no later than February 15 for notification of September appointment. The complete Internship application packet must contain:
- ADA Supervised Practice Program
Application (9-page application that can be
downloaded from this site). This application must be typed. (Computerized
form is acceptable)
- Official transcript(s) of all credits and grades from all colleges and universities attended.
- An original Declaration of Intent to complete the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) form or Verification of Completion of DPD form. This form is provided by your Didactic Program in Dietetics advisor. Photocopies are not acceptable.
- Three letters of recommendation
on standard ADA recommendation forms (forms
can be downloaded from this site). Other forms are not acceptable. The
completed recommendation form must be placed in a sealed envelope and signed
across the flap by the recommender to ensure confidentiality, and must be
included in the complete application packet.
One recommendation should come from a professor of a course you took in nutrition/dietetics. One recommendation should come from an employer who supervised your volunteer or paid work, and The final recommendation should come from a second professor or work supervisor who can comment on your professional potential. - Application fee: A $75 check or money order made payable to Hunter College Nutrition and Food Science; this fee is nonrefundable.
- Personal statement: Include a narrative statement (must be typed) describing why you entered or plan to enter the field of nutrition, your professional goals/career aspirations, why the Hunter College Dietetic Internship will help you achieve your goals, and why you should be selected for this internship. NOTE: there is a 2-page maximum length for the statement.
- Completed signed and dated checklist (can be downloaded from this site).

II. Participation in Computer Matching
Hunter College participates in Computer Matching. Applicants should request instructions and a mark-sense card to prioritize their preferences from any ADA approved Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or from D&D Digital Systems at (515) 292-0490 or http://www.dnddigital.com/ada/. Make the request early enough to allow time for the February 15 deadline..
III. Application to the Hunter College Masters in Public Health (MPH) Program
Once accepted into the Dietetic Internship program, students* are required to apply for matriculated or non-matriculated admission status through the Office of Graduate Admissions at Hunter College after notification of acceptance. Applications may be downloaded at http://admissions.hunter.cuny.edu/~graduate/request.html or requested via email admissions@hunter.cuny.edu or by mail from Hunter College Welcome Center, Rm. 100N, 695 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10065-5085.
*Hunter College students who have been accepted or who are currently matriculated in the MPH program are not required to apply for matriculated or non-matriculated status.
