1. Submit application forms.  Submit to Hunter Admissions (Undergraduate Transfer Admission) a Transfer Application and check second-degree application.  You can download the application from their website or call or email admissions for an application. Please note that CUNY colleges do not send college catalogues to residents of NYC. If you would like a catalog, please visit Admissions.  The Admissions Office is located at the main Hunter College Campus at 68th Street and Lexington Avenue, 2nd Floor, North Building. (212) 772-4490. Admission to the NFS major is for the Fall semester only though students may begin pursuing science prerequisites any semester. Students who have not completed all prerequisites should declare General Studies as their major and NOT Nutrition. Those who have completed all prerequisites should declare Nutrition as their major.

2. Determine which courses you need to take in advance of entering the major..  At this time, jump to required courses for a moment and come back.  Since you have a BA or BS, you would have found that you took some of the courses listed below.  Email the NFS Faculty Advisor with information on the previously taken required courses to determine if they can be accepted as equivalent (where course taken, course number, name and description and syllabus, if available, transcript and/or grade received.)

3. Register for the courses.  You will get a notice in mail from Hunter regarding registration.  Visit the main page of the UPH website for the current and following semester UPH course schedule (www.hunter.cuny.edu/schoolhp/uph). Visit the respective departments if you must first complete prerequisite courses (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) As the science prerequisities courses at Hunter are in high demand, students may wish to complete them at another 2 or 4 year college. If at a CUNY campus, view the CUNY website to determine if the course is equivalent to Hunter's. If outside CUNY, email or send a course description and/or syllabus to Dr. Navder.

4. When you are about to finish the prerequisite courses, you should come to NFS registration sessions.   You will be getting letters informing the sessions via e-mail or postal mail.  If you are in the middle of taking the prerequisite courses, simply ignore the letters.  However, if you are close to finish, come to the sessions to plan the time line to take Nutrition and Food courses.  Any relevant courses you previously took will be evaluated at this time.

5. Taking Nutrition and Food courses and planning ahead   While you take the Nutrition and Food courses, you should plan ahead for the Dietetic Internship.  Dietetic Internships are competitive, so it is vital to maintain good GPA.  You should also think about identifying areas of nutrition you would be interested.

Wondering how long is this going to take?  It highly varies depending on where your undergraduate degree comes from.  Assuming you have not taken any of the prerequisite courses, the entire process could take anywhere 3 ~ 4 years.
