Student Veteran Information Sheet (pdf)

Student Veteran Resource Center

The SVRC is an on-campus resource space dedicated to our student veterans.


PROVE

Project for Return and Opportunity in Veterans' Education

This program serves student veterans on 7 CUNY campuses, including Hunter College. The PROVE staff, including social work field instructors, social work interns, and student veteran mentors, work together in order to provide current and new student veterans with resources that will assist their transition from military to college life.


Career Development Services

Our staff provides comprehensive career services to students and alumni. Counselors are available to help you choose a major/career path, create a strong resume and cover letter, and prepare for job and internship interviews. We offer a variety of events, in-person and online, such as careers fair, workshops, career panels, employer interviews, and information sessions. Job and internships are available through our online database CareerHunter. We encourage you to visit us often, beginning in your freshman year and continuing through senior year and graduation. Counseling & Wellness Services

Provides mental health, health and wellness services aimed at enhancing students's quality of life and maximizing personal and academic growth and development.

Counseling Services

Provides Hunter students with short-term individual counseling, crisis intervention, psycho-education, and referrals, as well as consultation services to faculty, staff, and students and others. To find out more, call (212) 772-4931.

Immunization Records

Manages student immunization records and is responsible for assuring student compliance with New York State immunization laws. Immunization Records also hosts health insurance enrollment events, with Navigators & Certified Application Counselors who can assist you in applying for affordable health coverage through the New York State Health Marketplace. Academic Support, Learning Centers, and Tutors

Hunter offers a variety of tutoring, multimedia materials, technical support, reference libraries, learning workshops, and study groups to support student success. Discover which of these resources may benefit your academic journey.

The Leona & Marcy Chanin Language Center

The Chanin Language Center gives Hunter students who wish to study foreign languages an opportunity to practice the foreign language through films, audio and video programs, and interactive computer language applications available to indvidual students and classes.


The Rockowitz Writing Center

A comprehensive service for the entire Hunter community, offering workshops in the craft of writing and reading comprehension, tutorial assistance, and academic support to all registered Hunter students, as well as technical assistance and development to faculty and staff.


Skirball Science Learning Center

The Skirball Science Learning Center (SSLC) provides comprehensive assistance to all Hunter College students in all areas of the natural sciences and technology. Their staff and peer tutors provide a learning environment in which all students (regardless of major) are welcome, including scheduled and drop-in tutoring, group mentor sessions, and review sessions. The center also loans textbooks and study guides.


The Mary P. Dolciani Mathemathics Learning Center

The Dolciani Mathematics Learning Center offers many support services in mathematics. Students have access to tutoring services for various math and statistics courses, multimedia materials on most statistics courses, a reference library, and help with study skills in mathematics.


Support for Students Who are Parents or Guardians

The Children's Learning Center

Quality childcare facility for the children of any person enrolled in classes at Hunter. We provide a rich, developmentally appropriate environment for children while their parents attend classes, or perform college-related work. Preschool Program for children ages 2.5 to age 6. After-School Program for children ages 6-12.
