"Sharing the Legacy"
Conference - May 2002

On May 3, 2002, college students from around the country performed choreography by Hanya Holm, Jose Limon, Alwin Nikolais, Helen Tamiris, Antony Tudor, and Charles Weidman at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

They were joined by guest artists from the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Company in "Lamentation" and an excerpt from "Hidden Rites".

The renowned Katherine Dunham, along with her musicians and dancers, presented a vigorous "Conversation and Workshop with Katherine Dunham" to a rapt, multi-generational and multi-cultural audience.

Additional presenters included Sandra Alberhalns, Calolyn Adams, Stacy Cadell, Katherine Crockett, Christine Dakin, Claudia Gitelman, Meg Harper, Bill Hastings, Mark Jones, Carla Maxwell, Gloria McLean, Milton Myers, Madeleine M. Nichols, Gerald Otte, Norton Owen, Wendy Perron, Adam Pinsker, Peggy Schwartz, Gaynell Sharrod, Vicky Shick, Deirdre Towers, Ann Vaschon and Sylvia Waters.

"Sharing the Legacy" received extensive coverage in the August 2002 issue of Dance Magazine and the September 2002 issue of Dance Fax magazine.
