Jan Heller Levi teaches poetry and poetics.
Jan Heller Levi is the author of two collections of poems, Once I Gazed at
You in Wonder (1999) and Skyspeak (2005), both published by Louisiana
State University Press. She is also the editor of A Muriel Rukeyser
Reader, a consulting editor on the newly reissued Collected Poems
of Muriel Rukeyser, and co-editor (with Sara Miles) of Directed
by Desire: The Collected Poems of June Jordan. Levi is the recipient
of numerous awards and honors, including The Walt Whitman Award
of the Academy of American Poets, and the George Bogin Memorial
Prize and the Emily Dickinson Award from the Poetry Society of America.
She has taught at Hunter since 2001.
