Kate Parry received her Ed.D. from Columbia University in 1986.
Her primary area of research is applied linguistics. Her publications include From Testing to Assessment: English as an International Language (with Clifford Hill, Longman, 1994), Culture, Literacy, and Learning English: Voices from the Chinese Classroom (with Su Xiaojun, Heinemann, 1998) and Language and Literacy in Uganda (Fountain Publishers, 2000).
She spends summers and intersessions in Uganda, working on various literacy projects. She has also worked in Nigeria, where she prepared both primary and secondary school teachers, and in China, where she worked on an in-service program for teachers of College English.
