In the midst of the so-called current situation,
our Open House is open. All you need to do is click.
In October every year we hold our MFA Open House in Hunter's 624 seat Kaye Theatre. There you will normally discover just how close Hunter College is to the subway. A minute later you will learn that we offer a free ride to every poetry and fiction student.
In a normal year you will see the 36 students standing on the stage in front you. From them you will expect the gritty truth. For instance, what's the Hunter MFA Program really like? What will you learn? Are the students full of attitude? Are the professors full of attitude? Is Hunter any different than any other program? Can you get a degree and keep a job? Will you get the help you really need? Do the professors like to teach? For that matter, who are the three professors who will actually teach you? Et cetera.
But now we have the so-called "current situation." With the Kaye Theatre closed, how do you get this vital information?
The answer is, you visit the Open House, which we held on Zoom, and thoughtfully recorded.

We also recorded last year's Open House. You can view those sessions by clicking here for Fiction, here for Creative Nonfiction, here for Poetry.

After that, who knows? Maybe we'll see you next year, in real life, standing with your classmates on the stage of the Kaye Theatre.
