Temporary Conditions
A temporary condition is a short-term disabling condition or impairment due to injury, surgery or a medical condition. Students with a temporary condition may need access to the accommodations or services offered by the Office of AccessABILITY.
Some examples of a temporary condition may include, but are not limited to various injuries such as broken limbs or extremities.
To access services and accommodations from the Office of AccessABILITY, students are required to register with the Office, supply appropriate documentation and request services and accommodations as per the guidelines of the Office of AccessABILITY. Some of the accommodations utilized by students with psychological and/or medical conditions include:
- Accessible entrances/exits
- Accessible restrooms
- Computer software programs for self-editing, word prediction, and grammar/spell checks
- Extended time for exams
- Locker (lockers are assigned based on priorities)
- Note-takers
- Scribes during examinations
PLEASE NOTE: Not all students will need all of the above services. Specific accommodations are based on the diagnostic information provided by each student and consultation with the Intake Counselor.
