A prize-winning historian, a pioneer in the application of new technologies to teaching and research, and the author and editor of fifteen books, Steven Mintz brings extensive experience as an administrator to Hunter College. The founding director of the University of Texas System’s Institute for Transformational Learning, he directed Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts & Sciences Teaching Center and served as Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Science at the University of Houston. The recipient of more than $15 million in grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the U.S. Department of Education, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, among other funders, he has chaired the Council on Contemporary Families and is past president of H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online and the Society for the History of Children and Youth. His writings on academic innovation appear regularly on Inside Higher Ed.
