Arts Across the Curriculum


Whether students are majoring in English literature or mathematics, Hunter College believes that an excellent higher education includes the arts. That is why we are working on a bold new program aimed at boosting interdisciplinary collaboration among Hunter's esteemed arts departments, introducing the arts into "non-arts" disciplines, and engaging with the New York arts community. The pilot-year initiative is funded by a $100,000 planning grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. More>

Pocket opera workshop

Students and faculty from Hunter's English and Music  departments collaborated on a series of original ten-minute operas. 

The pocket operas were staged and performed during a two-night program coordinated by Music Prof. Richard Burke. More>

Astro 101: Introduction to Astronomy

How do we depict astronomical objects that we can't see with the naked eye? Instructor Daniele Pinna and Assistant Professor Kelle Cruz, a researcher at the American Museum of Natural History, explore the relationship between art and science using advanced spectroscopy. More>
