Rebecca Connor

Directing Arts Across the Curriculum is Professor Rebecca Connor of the Department of English.  Professor Connor, a scholar of 18th-century British literature, has been actively involved in various aspects of student engagement and success at Hunter for many years.  She is a former director of both English 220 and the Block program, and is the current president of Hunter's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. 

As a member of the Mellon Committee on General Education, Professor Connor developed and then directed the innovative and successful Hunter Horizons Program, an initiative designed to enrich the curricular and co-curricular experiences of incoming first-year students. Professor Connor is the author of Keeping Books: Women and Accounting in Eighteenth Century England (Routledge Press, 2004). She is presently collaborating with Professor Richard Burke of the Music Department on an opera adaptation of Matthew Lewis' gothic novel, The Monk.  She developed and oversees the 'Distinguished Living Writers' course, which has been designated a special Arts Across the Curriculum Course.

Dr. Lon S. Kaufman


Dr. Lon S. Kaufman is Acting Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs of Hunter College.  As Provost, Dr. Kaufman serves as the chief academic officer, overseeing Hunter's five schools, academic programs, centers, institutes, and initiatives, the libraries, and matters pertaining to faculty.  The Provost's Office is responsible for Hunter's academic policies, academic support services, and other issues vital to the academic quality of Hunter College.
