Our Mission
The Hunter Autism Research, Practice, & Policy (HARPP) Center was created in response to the growing needs of New York City children, adolescents, and adults on the autism spectrum. Our programs support the families and practitioners who work with these individuals; drawing upon Hunter’s strengths in teacher training, research, community outreach, and public policy. Each of Hunter’s five schools – Arts and Sciences, Education, Nursing, Public Health, and Social Work – contribute to this effort, making the HARPP Center uniquely positioned to train service providers, produce applied research, and address the pressing issues facing those affected by autism.
The HARPP Center was developed with the generous support and ongoing technical assistance of NEXT for AUTISM. It is our shared vision that the HARPP Center will continue to have an impact on the delivery of services to individuals with autism and their families in New York City and beyond. NEXT for AUTISM and the HARPP Center are dedicated to supporting the evolving needs of individuals with autism across the lifespan.
