Senior Citizen Auditor Program

Each semester we welcome over 700 senior citizen auditors to the Hunter community. New York residents over the age of 60 may audit undergraduate courses at Hunter College on a tuition-free, space-available basis. Senior auditors do not receive grades or academic credit for these courses, but benefit from auditing the class.

Spring 2023 Senior Citizen Auditor Registration Information

CUNY Auditing Option for New York State Senior Citizens

Spring 2023 Senior Citizen Audit Registration for enrolled Senior Citizen Auditors is as follows:
Beginning on Monday, January 30th at 9 am. SC Auditors may register online from any personal technology device (i.e. computers, tablets, smart phones) for the Spring 2023 semester.  However, courses continue to close throughout the day as late registration for students continues during the first week of classes. Please be advised that initially when your bill is generated it may display the non-degree tuition rate, this will be corrected within 48 hours and you will be charged and responsible for the Senior Citizen Auditing fee.

The SC Auditing option is available for undergraduate courses only on a space available basis. The Senior Citizen Auditing Tuition waiver applies to undergraduate courses only; any enrollments in graduate courses by Senior Citizen Auditors will be charged the Non Degree graduate tuition rate - there are no exceptions to this rule.

Please note:
·        The Senior Citizen Audit Registration option is offered on a space available basis only (degree-seeking students must be given first priority).
·        The majority of Hunter’s classes are filled to capacity with degree-seeking students, space in courses for auditing is very limited to participants who are actively enrolled in the Senior Citizen Audit program and have no outstanding charges on account with Hunter College.
·        Senior Citizen Auditors do not earn grades, submit assignments or engage in class activity outside of listening to the lecture (auditing) to ensure that faculty instruction, class discussion and student engagement remains focused on degree seeking students.
·        Identify up to six courses (course title, course number, section number, days and times) with available space so that if your first few choices are full at the time of registration, you have alternate options.
All classroom participants are required to conduct themselves in a manner that supports a respectful and productive learning and campus environment.
