Freshman Profile: Meet Oliver Houser

A graduate of LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, Oliver Houser is an aspiring actor, writer and composer. His acting career is already off to a strong start with TV appearances on "What Would You Do?" (ABC), "Phowned" (Spike) and "Life on the Line" (Oxygen). He has done voiceovers for educational CDs and computer games, sung in the Children's Chorus in three operas for the New York City Opera and was a writer for the MTV series "Skins." His goal at Hunter: "To hone my skills in other areas of the performing arts, particularly music composition."

What brings him to Hunter? "I love the fact that it has a diverse community and student body and that it's located in New York City. The professors and course offerings are also extremely impressive. Macaulay Honors was a major factor, everything from the paid tuition to the individual attention and tremendous support given to students.

"I had to decide between attending NYU or Macaulay and ended up choosing Macaulay because it seems like a much more interesting and stimulating environment to get an education."

There's lots more about Hunter that attracted Houser. He says, "I hope to fully immerse myself into the Hunter and Macaulay communities. My idea of a great college experience is being surrounded by interesting, creative students and being pushed, stimulated and supported by passionate, skilled professors."
