Hunter Honors Our Military Veterans

Hunter student veterans being honored at the annual CUNY Veterans Academic Awards Breakfast

Hunter College is proud to provide an academic home to the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. This Veterans Day we salute and celebrate the many veterans and family members of people who have served who are part of the Hunter community, and re-affirm our commitment to helping them bridge the gap between military and civilian life.

Some recent events for our student veterans have included the Veterans Academic Awards Breakfast, a yearly event that celebrates graduating veterans in the CUNY system who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, and a visit from Loree Sutton, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Veterans’ Services, as part of the Dept.’s Veterans on Campus-NYC listening tour.  Veterans on Campus-NYC is a coalition of colleges, universities, and private entities dedicated to better supporting and understanding the student veteran and family member experience.

Moreover, Hunter College is proud to have garnered three, highly distinguished, higher-education, accolades in 2017: TOP College & University by Military Advanced Education & Transition, designated a Military Friendly School by Victory Media, and ranked #13 for Best College for Veterans – Regional Universities North by U.S. News & World Report.

To all military members, present and past, we offer our gratitude.
