Dr. Michelle MacRoy-Higgins is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Her clinical and research interests include language and phonological disorders in young children as well as evidenced-based practice. She also has an interest in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Her current research projects focus on examination of language and literacy skills in children who were late talkers; and examination of speech perception and language comprehension in nonverbal children with ASD. Dr. MacRoy-Higgins has presented her research locally and nationally, and internationally at conferences such as the American Speech-Language Hearing Association Annual Convention and the Annual meeting of the Cognitive Neuroscience Society.
Michelle MacRoy-Higgins has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 20 years, with a focus on treatment of infants, toddlers and young children with a variety of communication disorders. She has worked in Early Intervention (birth - 3), Preschool (3-5 years) and early elementary school settings.
Dr. MacRoy-Higgins' professional activities include membership in local, state, and national professional organizations.
