This summer, Hunter College Computer Science major Georgina Woo participated in the prestigious MIT Summer Research Program in Biology (MSRP-Bio). The 10-week research-intensive summer training program is for advanced STEM majors with prior research experience and have an interest in pursuing a research career.

This program offers a unique opportunity for students to conduct supervised research in a fast-paced environment with state-of-the-art research facilities, and to experience the academic, social, and cultural environment at MIT.

Georgina was placed in the Kanwisher lab in the Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences, where she used techniques in AI, Machine Learning, and f-MRI to conduct research in computationally modelling humans’ perceived physics.

She worked under the supervision of Pramod RT and PI Nancy Kanwisher. She presented her work “Decoding Contact Information in Pre-Trained Deep Learning Models”  in the MSRP poster session, as well in as a poster session in Cognitive Computational Neuroscience 2024.

She is continuing her research in computational neuroscience with the Kanwisher lab remotely.
